Reporting to the RCC Carpenter Foreman, the Formwork Carpenter will assist in the safe completion of the RCC formwork scope of work including the assembly and disassembly of formwork components and other related duties.

Salary: $40.39/hr, plus overtime, as per collective agreement
Term: Full time, term to end February 2020
Hours: 12 hours/day, 14/7 rotation

• Constructs, erects, and removes wood and engineered formwork systems for footings, columns, walls, suspended slabs, slab-on-grades, and/or concrete stairs
• Checks formwork and associated components prior to and during concrete placement
• Installs necessary embedded items such as anchor bolts, steel plates, water stops
• Measures, cuts, shapes, assembles and joins materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other related materials
• Erects and builds scaffold and formwork decks and railings for safe access
• Builds hoardings and temporary shelters
• Works with or near chemicals such as form release agents, epoxy mixtures, lubricants, paint, surface sealers, hardeners
• Works with or near cranes, telehandlers and/or other mobile equipment
• Places and finishes concrete to grade and depth specification using hand and power tools
• Applies hardener and/or sealer components to concrete surfaces
• Repairs and/or removes defects on freshly placed concrete surfaces
• Completes general housekeeping to maintain a clean and organized work site
• Completes task hazard assessments and maintain a safe work environment
• Maintains Peace River Hydro Partners high work standards and outlined behavioral expectations to promote positive crew morale and productivity

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to operate required specialized power tools, machines, and hand tools in a safe and responsible manner
• Ability to proficiently read and interpret blue prints and drawings
• Ability to work well with others in a team-oriented environment
• Ability to solve problems
• Ability to measure and cut building materials proficiently
• Ability to work 14 consecutive 10-12 hour shifts in a high paced, physically demanding, outdoor environment
• Ability to communicate and collaborate with co-workers and sub-trades
• Obligation to report unsafe working conditions or behaviours immediately
• Ability to manually lift and carry heavy building materials
• Ability to climb stairs, bend, twist, reach, kneel, and/or stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to work at heights of up to 50 meters
• Ability to walk and work on uneven ground or uneven surfaces for extended periods
• Ability to apply trade related math and basic layout skills
• Ability to readily accept and apply direction from supervisor
• Ability to apply the BC Building Code

Experience and Qulifications

• 2+ years of experience in industrial formwork and/or rough carpentry
• Prior experience working with RCC Formwork
• Hold a valid carpenters trade certification or apprenticeship, or have proof of equivalent industrial heavy formwork experience
• Hold or be prepared to earn a valid BC Fall Protection certificate
• Hold or be prepared to earn a valid class 5 drivers licence
• A valid Red seal carpentry, first-aid, confined space, AWP, rigging, scaffolding and/or other training certificate are all considered assets
