Reporting to the Tunnel Foreman, the Concrete Lining Operator will be responsible for the operation of the concrete lining formwork system on shift in the underground tunnels at Site C. This includes responsibility for planning, upcoming works, liaising with concreters, carpenters surveyors, engineers and superintendents to ensure applicable tolerances are met. They will assist in the safe completion of the Tunnel concrete lining scope of work including the assembly and disassembly of formwork components and other related duties.

Term: Full time, term to end February 2020
Hours: 12 hours/day, 14/7 rotation

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Responsibilities

• Plan works minimum one week in advance to ensure efficient production
• Run hard line piping to the concrete distributor from the pump truck
• Monitor products for quality control, repair flaws and perform ongoing machine adjustments and minor maintenance as necessary
• Move products using forklift, crane or hydraulic hoist
• Set up and operate form system for the forming of the tunnel lining
• Inform the Tunnel supervision of any unexpected or potentially hazardous situations such as abrupt change of soil conditions, loss of ground, unusual ground movement or water influx, or whenever else immediate action is required
• Review and maintain records of all formed concrete as well as any needed repairs to follow the lining system
• Monitor and maintain the wet curing behind the form system as required by the specifications
• Clean scrape and oil the formwork assembly and keep in good condition
• Housekeeping in the work area
• Report all defects to your supervisor
• Ensure formwork/concrete tolerances are met

• Able to confidently work in tight spaces
• Ability to work in team setting providing support to ensure there is a constant supply of controlled materials, keeping the concrete consistent and avoiding any blockages
• Ability to use strong decision making and problem-solving skills by analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems
• Must be able to work access/board equipment in areas with uneven ground or snow or soft-ground/surface water
• Must be physically fit

Experience and Qualifications

• Proven experience in tunnel operations with concrete lining
• Proven experience with remote operations hydraulic equipment
• Previous Formwork and slip formwork experience
• Site based experience is essential
• Hold or be prepared to earn a valid BC Fall Protection certificate
• Hold or be prepared to earn a valid class 5 drivers licence
• Underground experience in tunnels or mines desirable
• A valid first-aid, confined space, AWP, rigging, scaffolding and/or other training certificate are all considered assets
